The UCI Trials World Cup Chronicle

After a break of nearly two months, the 2016 UCI Trials World Cup resumed with Round 2 in Les Menuires, France, on July 9-10. Great Britain's Jack Carthy prevented the French from dominating the Men’s 26” competition as they had done in the first round: Carthy’s near-perfect run in the Final enabled him to take the win ahead of Nicolas Vallee and Gilles Coustellier. Vallee takes the lead in the overall standings, with 300 points to Carthy's 295. Another French athlete and winner of Round 1, Aurelien Fontenoy, sits in third at 275 points. In the Men's 20", Dominik Oswald of Germany was the winner, tied on points with round 1 winner Benito Ros of Spain, but winning by virtue of one more clean section. Ros leads the standings with 360 points to Oswald's 285. In the Women’s competition, Nina Reichenbach (Germany) was the winner, with 12 penalty points to the 16 of Spain's Irene Caminos. It was Reichenbach's second straight victory.She leads the UCI World Cup standings with a perfect score of 400 points, followed by Tatiana Janickova (SVK) at 300, and Caminos at 285.

… Vöcklabruck

This is the second consecutive year that the UCI Trials World Cup has visited Vöcklabruck. Located in the northwest corner of Austria, it is in the Salzkammergut region surrounding the city of Salzburg. The name Vöcklabruck comes from the Vockla River, which runs through the middle of the town.

In 2015, Jack Carthy, 20, won his second consecutive UCI Trials World Cup title for Men 26". The British rider burst onto the Trials scene in 2012 as a Junior, with three top-3 finishes in the UCI World Cup and winning the Junior World title. He took his first UCI World Cup win a year later and repeated as the Junior UCI World Champion. This year he only managed seventh in the first round of the 2016 UCI World Cup, but won the second round in Les Menuires.
