Also known as “Lizzie,” Great Britain’s Elizabeth Armitstead has excelled at nearly all the major events on the cycling planet: UCI World Championships, UCI World Cups, Olympic Games…. We take a look back at the two careers of a champion who, next season, will be one of the favourites to win the first edition of the UCI Women’s WorldTour.

Brief biography

Elizabeth Mary Armistead was born on December 18th 1988 in Otley, a small Yorkshire town in the north of England.
She made a sensational start to her career on the track: still a beginner, she won the silver medal in the Scratch at the 2005 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships. After a series of titles, in 2009-2010 she decided to concentrate on road cycling and became one of the dominating riders in the discipline.
