2015 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano: results of "best events" vote
With nine rounds in as many countries, the 2015 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano kept athletes and spectators on the edge of their seats throughout the season. And while the athletes were ranked according to their speed, the nine host venues were in a competition of a different sort: that of “best event” of 2015.
As is the tradition, athletes, team managers, journalists sponsors and UCI staff voted for the best cross-country Olympic (XCO) and best downhill (DHI) events of the season. Voters took numerous factors into account, including organisation, courses and atmosphere.
Olympic cross-country: five out of five for Nove Mesto na Morave
Joining the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup for the first time in 2011, Nove Mesto na Morave hosted its fifth consecutive XCO event in 2015. And for the fifth consecutive year it has been voted best XCO event of the series. This result bodes well for the 2016 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, which will take place in the Czech sports resort from June 28th to July 3rd.
Downhill: Lourdes impresses from the outset
Athletes, officials and partners were won over by the demanding downhill track at the foot of the Pyrenees which offered a stunning view over the French market town of Lourdes. For its first appearance on the calendar of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano, Lourdes, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the world, opened the DHI racing season and has been voted best DHI event of the series.
The trophies will be presented in Geneva, Switzerland, in December during a seminar for organiser’s of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano and UCI Mountain Bike World Championships.
