2017 UCI Urban cycling World Championships: Don't forget to register for Chengdu!

The 2017 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships will take place in Chengdu, China, November 8 - 12.

General Information 

Registration

The UCI Urban Cycling World Championships represents the UCI World Championships for three cycling disciplines: BMX Freestyle Park, Trials, and Mountain Bike Eliminator.

To register for the 2017 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships, you will need to:

1.     Have an international cycling licence valid for 2017. Such a licence is available from the National Federation in the country where you live.

2.     Inform your National Federation* that you wish to enter the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in Chengdu. Your National Federation must register you no later than 27th October 2017 at noon (CET).

*Please note that if you live in a different country than the country of your nationality, it is the federation in the country of your nationality which must register you in the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships. Be sure that the nationality printed on your licence is correct.

BMX Freestyle Park

The UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Championships includes competitions for the following categories:

·       Women Elite (15 years and older)

·       Men Elite (15 years and older)

To participate, riders must have been born in the year 2002 or earlier.

Important note: to be confirmed as a starter in the event, all riders (or the team manager representing them) must attend the riders’ confirmation with their licence and passport on 8th November between 17:00 – 19:00. Riders’ confirmation will be held at the venue in the tea-house next to the media centre. The name and address of the hotel where each rider is staying will also be required at this time.

 

Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games Qualification

The UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in Chengdu will also be the qualifier for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October 2018. Riders in the 15-18-year age group will also be ranked in a YOG qualification classification for each gender. These classifications will be used to decide which countries will have the right to send riders to participate in the BMX Freestyle Park competition during the YOG.

Qualification is done separately for each gender. The BMX Freestyle Park competition in the YOG is open to 8 female riders (1 from each country which qualifies female riders) and 8 male riders (1 from each country which qualifies male riders). The riders who attend the YOG must have been born in the year 2000 or 2001 and will be selected by their National Federation.

Trials

The UCI Trials World Championships include competitions for the following categories:

·       Women Elite

·       Men Junior 20”

·       Men Junior 26”

·       Men Elite 20”

·       Men Elite 26”

As usual, the trials world championships will begin with a national team competition.

Important note: to be confirmed as a starter in the event, all riders (or the team manager representing them) must attend the riders’ confirmation with their licence and passport on 8th November between 09:00 – 11:00. Riders’ confirmation will be held at the venue in the tea-house next to the media centre. The name and address of the hotel where each rider is staying will also be required at this time.

 

Mountain Bike Eliminator

The UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Championships includes competitions for the following categories:

·       Men (17 and older

·       Women (17 and older)

Important note: to be confirmed as a starter in the event, all riders (or the team manager representing them) must attend riders’ confirmation with their licence and passport on 10th November between 08:00 – 10:00. Riders’ confirmation will be held at the venue in the tea-house next to the media centre. The name and address of the hotel where each rider is staying will also be required at this time.
