Date:

24.04.2013

Description:

The President of Uruguay’s National Federation participated in meetings at the International Cycling Union in Aigle, Switzerland, on Tuesday.

During these meetings he met the World Cycling Centre (WCC) Director, Frédéric Magné, to talk about his wish to continue the development of cycling in Uruguay. The Federation President would like to see young, talented athletes from his country take part in training camps at the WCC.
Federico Moreira also talked to the UCI Road Coordinator Matthew Knight. He expressed his desire to develop new events on the UCI America Tour calendar in the near future.

The Federation President requested a meeting with Francesca Rossi, Director of the Cycling Anti-Doping Foundation (CADF). Discussions centred on how to raise awareness among young athletes and the possibility of the Uruguay Federation joining forces in the fight against doping with CADF and Uruguay's new national anti-doping agency.

He then met with the Manager of  Continental Confederation and National Federation Relations Dominique Raymond. The two discussed the different aspects of cycling on the American continent as well as future training courses established in collaboration with the Pan American Cycling Confederation.

Himself a former athlete, four times Pan American Champion on the road and the track, Federico Moreira demonstrated throughout his meetings a very strong desire to ensure the wellbeing of the athletes and to develop cycling in general.

The UCI President assured him of his support and the collaboration of the UCI and the WCC for his different projects.
