Pedrosa and Bertarelli at the World Cycling Centre

Pilot Dani Pedrosa (photographed here with UCI General Director Martin Gibbs), is double World Champion in the 250cc category, but also a long-standing fan of cycling. Still not completely recovered from injury, the native of Barcelona decided to postpone his session on the velodrome track. But he was measured for a bike and will be back to try out the track. He expressed his pleasure on Twitter: “Today had lot of fun at the UCI in their center in Aigle! Looking forward to go in the saddle once.”

Another guest did, however, take to the track. Ernesto Bertarelli, the famous promoter of Alinghi, which won the America’s Cup in 2003 and 2007, is familiar with the WCC where he comes to ride several times a year. Sure enough, he could be seen Thursday morning doing his laps. The two cycle-loving VIPs will no doubt be back before too long.
