World Cycling Centre extends Sport Director Training Programme

After the success of its Sport Directors courses launched in 2009, the World Cycling Centre (WCC) has expanded its training programme for 2013. With three different options now available, the programme caters to Sport Directors across all divisions as well as people aiming to join the profession.

Until now, the Sports Director course has been exclusively open to Sport Directors working for UCI ProTeams or Professional Continental Teams. Nearly 200 Sports Directors have trained at one of the eight courses given at the WCC in Aigle, Switzerland, over the last four years. “Until now we have assisted Sport Directors mainly from teams competing in the UCI WorldTour,” explains WCC Education and Training Manager Keith Flory. “Now we wish to extend this support, with Sport Directors from across all road cycling divisions having access. Even those who have not yet gained experience as a Director can benefit from our new extended programme, which is divided into three options.”
The three options now available are:

Option A: a five-day course exclusively for existing Sport Directors working for UCI ProTeams or Professional Continental Teams, finishing with a half-day exam

Option B: a 12-day course for current or aspiring Sport Directors across all divisions, finishing with a half-day exam

Option C: half-day exam only.

All three options included in the Sport Director Training Programme are available at the WCC in November.
