The International Cycling Union (UCI) has established a âfictitiousâ ranking of the UCI Continental Teams registered for 2013, based on points obtained by the eight best riders among their current members during the last season.
This ranking is used to determine which UCI Continental teams (âthird divisionâ) will receive automatic invitations to participate in events on their respective Continental Circuits (article 2.1.007 bis of the UCI Regulations).
The organisers of Class 1 and Class 2 events in the Continental Tours of Africa, America, Asia and Oceania are bound to invite the three best teams on their continent to participate.
The organisers of Class 2 events in the UCI Europe Tour must invite the three best European Continental Teams.
This âfictitiousâ ranking is a true reflection of the status of the teams as of 31 January 2013. It takes into account the UCI Continental teams (âthird divisionâ) only, and does not concern the UCI Professional Continental Teams (âsecond divisionâ).
This ranking is used exclusively to determine which teams will receive automatic invitations and should not be confused with the Continental Rankings published on the 25th of each month.
