Oman, Québec and Richmond announced as candidates to organise the 2015 UCI Road World Championships

The Sultanate of Oman announced its bid to organise the 2015 UCI Road World Championships at the Tour of Oman, the UCI Asia Tour event that finished on Sunday.

Oman joins the cities of Québec (Canada) and Richmond, Virginia (United States) that have already announced their candidatures to organise these World Championships.

It was decided at the UCI Management Committee in Melbourne last year that only candidatures from outside Europe would be accepted for the 2015 edition of the World Championships in order to acknowledge the increasing interest of non-European countries in organising the Championships.

The UCI Management Committee will decide on the award the 2015 UCI Road World Championships at its meeting in Copenhagen (Denmark) on 21-22 September.

The three candidatures will now be examined during the evaluation stage.
